My Bio

My journey as an osteopath began in childhood. I was born and raised in Singapore, where my grandmother showed me the meaning of love and inspired me with her strength and compassion. It was beautiful to see how she cared for and helped others.

When she passed, I made a promise to myself to do the same for others. During the course of her treatment for cancer, I was struck by the limits of the care available to her — beyond medication, there was little attempt to understand her pain or provide alternative ways to alleviate her suffering. Losing her kindled in me a desire to understand more about health and well-being, and led me to osteopathy.

At RMIT, I learnt the importance of integrated care that reflects the whole of an individual’s health needs in an effective and efficient way.

When I began assessing and treating patients, I experienced the satisfaction that comes with listening, building rapport and assuring my patients to empower them to heal, rooted in the foundation of trust and care that I learnt from my grandmother.

I have learnt how amazing our bodies are and all our systems and organs contribute to the workings of a whole. As an osteopath, I want to help create and nurture a culture of trust and care while applying evidence-based techniques and modes of treatment. I believe being a caring presence when a person is unwell is important, and will work hard to earn my patients’ trust by providing the best treatment my field can provide.

In the short term, I hope to begin my career as an osteopath. In keeping with my belief that healthcare should be inclusive, I hope to volunteer my skills to communities with limited resources and access to osteopathy. In the long term, I hope to undertake a course in psychotherapy, as I believe in the mind and body connection, and I want to treat people as whole persons, and support the healing of their bodies without neglecting their mental well-being.
